Sugar cane sector
Based on sugarcane grown in tropical regions, it produces sucrose which, once refined into white sugar, is highly suitable for pelleting. In addition, bagasse, the fibrous residue of sugarcane, is a high-energy by-product that can be pelletized into a uniform biofuel, ideal for industrial boilers and power generation.
Sugar beet sector
Derived from Sugar beet cultivated in temperate climates, it also produces sucrose that is chemically identical to cane sugar. Once refined, both cane and beet sugar are essentially pure sucrose and pelletize equally well. In addition, beet pulp is widely used in animal nutrition, where pelleting improves shelf life, handling, and feed consistency.
Starch-based sugar sector (alternative source)
Beyond cane and beet, another important source of pelletable sugar materials comes from starch-rich crops such as Maize, Wheat, and Potato. These crops do not naturally contain sucrose but are industrially processed into glucose (dextrose) and maltodextrins. These derivatives can also be pelletized, often with the aid of binders or conditioning processes.
Pelleting transforms these materials into high-value, standardized products by increasing density, improving handling, and optimizing storage and transport. In industrial terms, it can also reduce logistics costs and contribute to the valorization of by-products and waste streams.
