Area Arte Summer Edition 2026
Area Arte returns with issue 56, the Summer 2026 edition, under the programmatic title "L'Arte Abita lo Spazio" — Art Inhabits Space. The cover features an AI-generated interpretation of Hokusai's celebrated woodcut "The Great Wave" — an image that immediately sets the tone for the entire issue: the tension between tradition and experimentation, between form and transformation. The magazine, now in its seventeenth year, reaffirms its vocation to tell the story of contemporary art in the Triveneto with an open, curious gaze deeply rooted in the region.
Südtiroler Künstlerbund: 80 Years at the Centre of South Tyrolean Cultural Life
2026 marks a milestone anniversary for the Südtiroler Künstlerbund (SKB), the association founded in Bolzano on 22 August 1946, today a reference point for around five hundred active artists spanning three generations. Eighty years of history to be celebrated not with nostalgia, but with a gaze firmly directed toward the future.
Giancarlo Zen. Light as Matter — The First Retrospective at the Museo Eremitani, Padua

One of the most anticipated and significant exhibitions of summer 2026 is the first retrospective dedicated to Giancarlo Zen (Florence 1929 – Padua 2020), hosted at the Museo Eremitani in Padua and curated by Guido Bartorelli and Barbara Luciana Cenere.
"The Weight of Fragility" — Castel Pergine (TN)
33rd Annual Contemporary Art Exhibition, until October 2026
Within the evocative spaces of Castel Pergine — one of Trentino's most important historical complexes, with its medieval origins between the 12th and 13th centuries — the 33rd Annual Contemporary Art Exhibition opens, entitled "Il peso della fragilità" (The Weight of Fragility), featuring works by sculptors Lois Anvidalfarei and Magnus Pöhacker.
Fabbrica Arte — The Factory as a Place of Relationship and Meaning
A singular and expanding project, born in 2023 at Officine Lavinoss in Arcugnano (VI): Fabbrica Arte transforms an industrial metalworking space into a temporary exhibition environment — three days at dusk, when the machines stop and the factory comes alive with a different kind of light. Painting, sculpture, music and performing arts enter into dialogue with the productive identity of the place, thanks to the curation of Giovanna Grossato and the site-specific installation design of Mauro Zocchetta.

Venice Biennale 2026 — "In Minor Keys" (9 May – 22 November): The 61st International Art Exhibition unfolds around the curatorial project conceived by Koyo Kouoh, who passed away on 10 May 2025. The Biennale has chosen to realise the exhibition faithfully following her vision. A sensory narrative of contemporary art made of pauses, relationships and depth.
MUSE Trento — Ronald Ventura: Luna (9 May – 22 November, Docks Cucchini, Venice): The Trento Science Museum arrives in Venice as co-organiser of an official collateral event of the Biennale. Filipino artist Ronald Ventura explores the Anthropocene through video installations, Murano glass sculptures and oils on canvas, using the Moon as a symbol of the link between tides and climate crisis.
Museo Canova — Reopening of the Scarpa Wing (late May, Possagno TV): After a long-awaited restoration, the Museo Canova reopens the extraordinary wing designed by Carlo Scarpa, restoring it to its original identity: the same light, the same tension between architecture and Canova's sculpture.
Museo Casa Giorgione — "Be the Difference...with Art!" (from 27 June, Castelfranco Veneto TV): The museum hosts the works selected by the prize promoted by the Rotary Club Asolo, open to artists under 40 of any nationality. Twenty finalist works, open throughout the summer.
